The birthing of Wife in the Waiting
In 2014, my boyfriend of 4 years told me that he was not able to love me the way that I wanted to be loved. By this point, I was fully surrendered to God and had stopped the foolishness of giving wife privileges before I was a wife.
This was the day I surrendered to a new way. I told God that I didn’t want anything, no man, no husband, no job, no promise without HIM in it. I was SOLD OUT to God. It had to be God’s way or No way! Literally!
Over the year, I started gleaning from teachers and women around me. I continued challenging my thoughts and ideas of what a relationship was, and what God’s purpose for marriage was. I started assessing what mistakes I had made and was grateful that I now had an opportunity to choose a new way; God’s way! With God’s guidance and counsel from my mentors, I was able to choose how I wanted to move forward without being bound by the mistakes I had made. I was becoming the woman that I desired to be.
At this time, after two failed marriage promises, I desired marriage. So I was seeking God for wisdom on marriage, and came across this:
‘He who finds a wife find a good thing and received favor from the Lord.’ Proverbs 18:22
My analytical mind thought about the choice of words used in this scripture… taking it at face value, this scripture meant that my husband will not find me as a woman, he finds me as a WIFE. What a shift in perspective!!
Well… that was my next request to God… Lord, make me a wife!
In 2016, while in Atlanta, Georgia, sitting around a table of women who were married, engaged and single, one of the single ladies turned to me and asked, “How are you so content being single while clearly desiring to be married?” I didn’t have an answer, but the seed had been planted.
In 2017, while in the aeroplane travelling back from another trip to visit friends in Florida, the Lord spoke so clearly and ‘Wife in the Waiting Academy’ was birthed. It is a place for women who desired to be wives to come together and cultivate the marriage mindset and learn to be a wife while waiting in and on God to unite them with their husbands here on earth.
Wife in the Waiting is a ministry goes far beyond just waiting on God to become the wife that we desire to be:
1. We are TRUSTING God in a ‘waiting’ season; whether that is waiting to be married, waiting to conceive a child or waiting to fulfil the promises of God in your life.
2. We are waiting in FAITH; this means not sitting down twiddling our thumbs, but ACTING in obedience to the Word of God and the instructions of God in our life today.
3. We are walking in FAITHFULNESS to God; knowing that He is faithful and that all of His promises to us will come to pass.
4. We are growing in PURPOSE during the ‘waiting’ season; fulfilling the call of God in our lives today.
The truth remains that any challenges we face in singleness or the waiting season will follow us into the season of our lives. Seasons are forever changing, but the question is, will we allow God to change us and transform us into who He created us to be today? Or will we keep going around the same hurdles and challenges thinking that it is others and the world around us that needs to change first?
My purpose is to help women navigate the season of waiting while trusting God for the desires of their hearts. It is my mission to help you change your thinking to align with God’s so that you can live a purposeful life today knowing that God is faithful to perform the promises He has give you.
